Welcome to AF
Only factory oem sometimes has the vin no.

How did that happen.
Explain a little more.

Re: blazer tranny

we thought tranny went out. No reverse or 4th. A repair shop said it was the tranny and we paid for a used tranny and after a week they have had it they told us they needed another $100 for a electronic shifter module on the tranny. They showed us the tranny that they said came off and it had blue marks on it like a junk yard one. The problem is we bought i in 1998. It was only 1 year old. It should not of had a junk yard one in it. It should of been covered by warrenty if something happened to it before we bought it. Think they charged us for a tranny they didnt put in.

Re: blazer tranny

Blue junkyard paint or just blue marks?
Look real close and see if it has a white vin tag.

If reverse was out of your old one they had to do something to repair it.

Always deal with a good repair shop that you can trust.

Re: blazer tranny

Could the module they put on the tranny have been the problem the whole time. When we got it back the check engine light was on and they said it just needed to be reset. I took it to Autozone to be checked and the shift module overheated was the error?

If the old transmission lost reverse it was a internal problem.
Never heard of a shift module overheat.
What was the code no pulled?
Have you cleared codes and watched for what comes back?

Did you get a written warranty or any paper work on the used transmission from the salvage yard?
