AF DSM Meet 2009 - Midwest ***CANCELLED***

That's right ladies it's that time again... AF DSM Meet time!!! Since I was the only person that went to BOTH () meets, I have decided to host it here in Chicago this year. It seems to be a pretty central location for a lot of people and there's always lots to do.

Obviously just like all the other meets, nothing will be set in stone until closer to the meet. However, we should talk about what we want to do/see so we can plan out a little better.

At the South meet we got some dyno time in which was a lot of fun, however takes a long time for cool down, setups, and tuning. I'm not sure of any dynos around here. Route 66 Speedway (1/4 miles track) does have open Test-N-Tune dates so I have to check to see when those are. I would personally rather do that then dyno. What do you think?

I'm pretty sure everyone would be up for camping. At Lake Elmo in Minnesota it was an awesome camp ground. There's a place not really close to the city, but maybe an hour trip called Starved Rock. I've never camped there (and haven't been there in years) but it's a beautiful area with hiking trails, waterfalls, all the nice scenery stuff going on, plus camping. I would like someplace closer to the city so we can go cruising downtown and/or just enjoy the downtown life. What do you guys think? Camping, hotel, don't care? I can't house more than 2 others at my place so not an option (unless someone comes early)

I think the weekend thing would probably work best for all of us again too. Like Thursday through Sunday seems to work for most people. Looking at maybe mid July. Usually good, warm weather here. Any preferences?

Anyone want to do anything else? Paintball? Bars? Downtown stuff?
I want all ideas, thoughts, and who would be 'penciled in' for coming.
opcorn:

These are the threads from what happened last year.

I'm just throwing out ideas and I know some members do paintball. We have pretty much everything around here so let me know if anything 'strikes your fancy'

As for being in the city... it will be out-side in the suburbs. Should we decide to go downtown, we can always store the cars by my place and take the trains/bus to where ever. We've got great public trans so getting around is no big deal and MUCH cheaper than driving around down there and parking. The only time you guys would be driving through the city (if we didn't cruise it) would be for you guys coming from North/East. 90/94 goes right into the city and changes onto 55 and causes some heavy traffic sometimes. Great view though. Other than that it's no biggy.

Here to South Carolina = 800miles / 12hrs
Here to Minnesota = 400miles / 6hrs

I was afraid of the same. Hell when I went to SC I literally met up with Jason and strapped the car on the dyno.

And when I went to MN, the car was just finished with the turbo conversion. Any little noise or anything I freaked out. Just take it chill and when you fill up on gas, pop the hood and make sure everything is good. Allow for a little cool down... everything's fine then. You'll be fine.

If you're MapQuesting, a good zip code to go by would be 60638

Re: AF DSM Meet 2009 - Midwest

Hell fuckin yeah Stevie!

I'm in for sure, and I'm pretty excited for it. I'm definately down to camp too, wouldnt have it any other way. As for the other things I think bar hopping is a necessity, but I'd really like to go paintballing too... I've never done it before. I know something else we should do... pizza rug orgy!

Re: AF DSM Meet 2009 - Midwest

Bout 400 miles for me... That's only like a 6 hour drive. I'm in for sure this time now that I'm established in this new job. I've already got 3 weeks of paid vacation too. lol... Gonna use bout 2 weeks sometime this spring for Florida, but then I'll save some time for Chicago for sure. Might not be sportin the Talon, but at least I'll make it out there... (Unless some miracle happens and its running with no problems by then. lol)

Any ideas on the date yet? Bout the same time I was gonna be coming up there anyways Dave?

I'm in for some paintballing. I'll get my bro's old gear and bring it up with me. I loved the setup on his gun. The bar's... I'll hit em up with you guys if you want, but I'm only gonna have a few beers. I don't wanna get totally wasted in an unfamiliar state again. It's hard enough finding your way home sober. lol

Camping is cool too. Whatever you guys have planned. But one thing is for sure... I will be taking a bite out of that pizza carpet at some point. The pizza carpet virginity will be mine!!! lol

Re: AF DSM Meet 2009 - Midwest

Like I said, looking at July. I looked up the racetrack and they don't have the new schedule up for Test And Tune. Last year they had a Friday Night Test And Tune about mid-July so maybe they'll have the same again.

Brian, if you want to come up at any other time that'd be fine with me too. I don't really care. And don't even joke about the Talon running... it's just not funny anymore.

Brian you're too late for that. My buddy passed out on it at a party last summer.

Just cause he passed out drunk doesn't mean he took a bite at it... I'm taking a sober bite out of it. lol

I'm gonna plan to be up there about the same time as this meet so I can actually meet up with some of the other members too. I'll just take like a week off from work and get paid to go party it up with you guys. lol

Re: AF DSM Meet 2009 - Midwest

Damn thats going to be a long drive... Hitting up the track would be awesome, I would be a little nervous about beatting on it that hard from the house. Paintball also sounds like fun, been playing some this week actually. Im still not 21 so the bars aren't really an option for me yet. Also camping would be awesome.
