1974 F350 1 ton exhaust manifold gasket help

My husband has a 1974 for F350 1 ton dump truck. He was just told that they think the Exhaust manifold gasket needs replaced. Was quaoted about 250.00. Is that a reasonable price? He can work on automobiles, I am curious as to the level of dificulty to do this himself? Also any links that anyone could give me for a diagram on where the exhaust manifold gasket is for him to see!

Thanks for your help.

Re: 1974 F350 1 ton exhaust manifold gasket help

I have no pics, but if it is the gasket between the head and manifold itself, I would suggest having someone do it. The studs and or bolts are going to most likely break, and he will need other equipment to deal with that. Is the $250 for both sides or just one? You should also get another quote from a different shop.

And btw, I asked if the price was for both sides because you didn't say what motor! So I'm just assuming it's a 360 or 390 v8.
