95 Jimmy

I recently purchased a 95 jimmy with 210k miles and am having some real issues. when i go somewhere I have to make sure that i am within like 30 miles from home or i have to stop a lot to let it sit. The truck seems to not like to go far. It will run (fine) for a while but then it will start studdering like it isnt getting gas but when i stop and turn it off for a few min. it will run fine for like 3-6 miles and do the same thing over again. I have replaced the fuel filter and am getting ready to replace the O2 sensor. Am I on the right track or might there be something else I need to look at.

Re: 95 Jimmy

Is the check engine light on? If not, I'd look at the fuel pump.

Re: 95 Jimmy

I have the same truck. Start by getting the fuel pressure checked even though the pump might have been replaced. Then also get the truck scanned for codes. Do these first before you start buying parts. Most Auto zone part stores will scan the truck for trouble codes for free. The fuel pressure gauge is pretty cheap and it is good to have.

Re: 95 Jimmy

Try to give more symptoms. Fuel pumps are about the only thing I go to the dealer for because other aftermarket pumps seem to die about a year later. It could be a fuel delivery issue.
