Blew my 2.7, what to do?

I've been swearing at this car since the day I got it, and now its blown. Motor is shot. Trans is good. Body is good. 172kms.

Should i swap another 2.7 into it or a 3.3 or whatever other motor everyone talks about.

If so, what 3.3 do I need, with what tranny? with what wiring? and what? Is it hard process.

Or just scrap the car!

The 3.3 will not fit.A 2.7 to 3.2/3.5 conversion is another choice.Avoid the kit, more money than getting a donor car.Advantage with the donor car is you have the parts on hand.A Chrysler Concorde and Dodge intrepid with a 3.2 aretwo choices.A Chrysler 300M is with a 3.5 is another choice. The 2.7 computer will work with the 3.2 and 3.5 engines.Have a 3.2 or 3.5 computer on hand.

Re: Blew my 2.7, what to do?

I agree totally, just because I have a good tranny, seats interior etc..
I WILL NOT put another 2.7 in my car!!! For what another 60,000 miles?
When my 2.7 goes it's a scrap heap as far as I'm concerned.
When the oil light started to flicker and a oil sensor didn't fix it, I got a little concerned. Started reading about all the trouble with the 2.7 and got a little more worried. Then read a article in the New York Times about engine sludge
all mfr's seem to have a problem with it GMC,VW,Chrysler,Saab etc
but in the entire article only one engine was mentioned by model, yep the infamous 2.7
I stumbled across a website "Dodge complaints" 148 complaints about engine failures with the 2.7 What got me most was how they started, at about 75,000 the oil light began to flicker at idle. Then in the not too distant future a $6,000 repair bill because they didn't document every single oil change.
I believe mine is only weeks away from me and my son having fun with his new BB gun
Please if someone has fixed the flickering oil light problem Let me know.

Re: Blew my 2.7, what to do?

LOL.. Yup, the 2.7 is a ticking time bomb from what i have read.

The funny part was, a buddy came over and i said lets look for cheap intrepids for the car then i have a bunch of spare parts. I found one. identical to mine. $1000, problem was, the 2.7 was blown in it. LOL And this story only follows it self with a lot or if not all the intrepids in the wrecking yards. All blown.

The ONLY 2.7 i found was on ebay for 1300US with 72,000k's.. So yeah, no thanks..

I am actually enjoying ripping this one apart. Fun in a way! All parts are going cheap!

Re: Blew my 2.7, what to do?

I do know a wrecking yard in my area that bought one with a blown up 2.7 and caught on fire.Synthetic oil is recomended for the 2.7 and I heard this from a Jasper rep I know using Mobil 1.Jasper does rebuild them with upgrades and go about for $3,000.00 for their reman 2.7s.Chrysler says they did do improvements and it was the waterpump only,5 times.I did hear from my nearest Chrysler dealership that the 2002 to 2006 2.7s are junk too.My father did buy a 2006 300 with a 2.7 and got rid of it after hearing this at the auction.
