00 Park Avenue 6x9's Removing

I'm trying to remove the 6x9's in my 2000 Park Avenue Ultra. They mount from the bottom and I don't know how to remove the white plastic? fasteners, any suggestions would be great. Thanks guys, I look forward to participating in this forum!

Re: 00 Park Avenue 6x9's Removing

I had to replace both 6x9's in my 99 ultra. The passenger side went out first, and was easy. The driver's side was much more of a pain because the amplifier was in the way. I didn't have to remove it, though.

I don't think the holes on the 6x9's line up perfect with aftermarket ones. I intended to put OE one's in anyway, but when I held one of the bad speakers up to an aftermarket speaker, the holes didn't seem to line up.

The plastic pieces are just plastic pegs in plastic spreadable clips. You need to pull the center out (I think I pried the pegs out with a screwdriver between the head and the clip and then pulled them out with my fingers, but may have used pliers) then the whole thing should be able to come back out through the hole, and they can be reused. Alternatively, you could order new ones and just cut the old ones off, but the price was pretty steep considering what they are, and I'm not sure it would be any easier in the long run.

Re: 00 Park Avenue 6x9's Removing

Thanks for the help, I was looking at replacing mine because they are blown. Crutchfield says that the Kicker KS6930's are compatible and they were the best ones I heard out of the 3 audio stores I went to. Hopefully they work. I figured a 6x9 was a 6x9. Are you sure you weren't comparing it to a 6x8?

Re: 00 Park Avenue 6x9's Removing

I was comparing it to a 6x9. They were close, they just didn't line up perfectly. It could be that they would have if they weren't face to face, or it might even be that they are close enough for the pegs to go through. I figured they were the same too, until I compared them. Surefly they will work if Crutchfield says. Don't they usually provide replacement instructions too?
