when i bought this truck the guy said it was hard to start yet the glow plugs were replaced. I checked the timer and it was hooked up wrong, so i fixed it. When I start it i let the wait light go out and crank it over yet it doesn't want to start so i give it just a little throdle and she will start. she runs rough at first but then smoothes out.

Re: 94 f-350 desiel hard starting
Do you hear the glow plug controller clicking? If so run it thru the cycle 2 or three times (when it quits clicking turn the ignition off and then back on) depress the throttle once (to set the high idle) and turn it over. If it starts then the glow plug circuit is not working correctly-you may have one or more bad glow plugs. If you do not hear the glow plug controller clicking, that's where I would start.

Re: 94 f-350 desiel hard starting
It would help to know which engine you have. In 1994 there were three different diesels offered.
7.3L IDI (indirect injection) non-turbo 7.3L IDI (indirect injection) with factory turbocharger 7.3L DI (direct injection - the first Power Stroke) turbocharged electronic engine The IDI non-turbo and IDI turbo were available with automatic or manual transmissions. The Power Stroke was only available in 1994 in the second half of the year and only with a manual transmission. Both the IDI turbo and the Power Stroke were badged on the body of the truck as TURBODIESEL, the Power Stroke fender badges did not come out until 1995. From 1995 on the only diesel offered has been the Power Stroke, in various displacements and versions. If you have an automatic it is either an IDI turbo or someone converted a manual tranny Power Stroke to an automatic (I have never seen one), if you have a stickshift it may be an IDI turbo or a Power Stroke. If you look under the hood the PowerStroke has a little "hood" looking black plastic thing on top of the engine and there are no fuel lines running to the individual cylinders like on the IDI. Let us know which you have and it will help a bit.
