Re: main & rod bearings torque

welcome to A/F and happy new year. the mains are torque to 37foot lbs then a extra 77 degrees or just under a 1/4 turn. rods are 18 foot lbs + 100 degrees ( just over a 1/4 turn ) this is for the 2001 to 2003 3.4L good luck. : NOTE 2000 3.4 rod torque is different than the 2001 to 2003 3.4L engines.

Re: main & rod bearings torque

Connecting Rod Bearing Bolt
  • First Pass
20 N·m
15 lb ft
  • Final Pass
75 degrees

Crankshaft Main Bearing Cap Bolt/Stud
  • First Pass
50 N·m
37 lb ft
  • Final Pass
77 degrees

ETA: I see I was a little slow on the draw.... we're the same on the mains, but a little different on the rods...all I can say is my specs are from what should be a reliable factory resource...

your Rod Bearing Bolt spec is for the 2000 year not the 2001 to 2003 year the only other change on the engine is in 2001 the fly wheel bolts decreased to 52 ft lbs from 61 ft lbs in 2000 year.

The GM service website I pulled this info from shows it to be valid for the 2002 Model Year....I suppose it's possible it's not right; but it is GMs website and the specs I would use....

Where are you pulling your info from?
