How do you remove the tailgate lettering(Chevrolet) from a 1999 Silverado with out wrecking the paint?

this is just a thought but since its a 99 I am sure that red is not as red as it used to be removing that sticker will probably show you how red it used to be. I would leave it

I've had luck with a hair dryer held over the lettering and gently pulling up from the vehicle's body. There are some aftermarket products that can help soften the material that the lettering is made of , but in most cases it also destroys the lettering/graphics.

I'm going to agree with carelessthunder...leave it. Over the 9+ years, the surrounding paint will fade from the sun exposure. Plus, the clearcoat will have a different gloss, and slightly different color underneath the lettering than the exposed, washed, polished, buffed, and generally pampered surrounding areas.

It really should have been removed when the truck was received new so that all the paint can be exposed evenly. But it would be nice to hear from people that have done this to get a feel for the time length one can wait without any visible aftereffects.

It won't look cool, just kinda faded.
