really bad oil leak
Ok guys. I've done research but every place I look is saying check the vtec soleniod gasket. And cam seals. An dizzy gasket but I firmly believe that's not the problem. I just put a head that's been resurfaced "gsr" back on my gsr block. Never had a overheating problem or blown gasket. I used a new oem gasket. And arp studs. Torqued to 80 foot pounds. When I started the car I heard a gurgling sound . Got up and looked to see oil all over my transmission, and on the fire wall. "At idle" and the dipstick wasn't even touching oil. I was at least a quart low. So I put in a quart. Saw that it reached the dipstick. Restarted it and the same thing. The oil coming out is not milky. I have no idea. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for anyones time.

Re: really bad oil leak
Sounds like you put your head gasket on upside down.
Are you 100% certain, without a doubt, you put in on right side up? |

Re: really bad oil leak
Well I'm almost positive its on rite seeing as I'm pretty familiar with hondas I've rebuilt a pretty good bit of honda engines. But I will not rule that out seeing as I'm human and humans do mess up. I will check for that today thanks. In the event that the gasket may be on rite wat else could it be. Ill let ya know wen I pull the head back off if it was on backwards. Thanks for your time.

Well, before you take the head off, why not check around first. But, I have seen guys put in on upside down, as they really were not paying attention. Also, you said the head was just resurfaced? I did not catch that before. There are a series of allen plugs in the head, that might have been removed during the cleaning of the head. I have seen machine shops forget to put them back in. There is one larger one, on the passenger side facing the back. There is also a smaller one, down low below the intake cam, on the passenger side as well. |

Glad I could help. Sometimes we can get complacent even on the smallest things. I bet you will never do that again though.
