|
How do I lose the blue collar odor?
I have been driving a semi for 3 years now and have decided to turn the corner and get me my white collar on. Anyway, I am trying to sell the WRX and have a guy coming down to look at the car. I do have one big concern. The diesel exhaust smell in my car is pretty strong. It almost smells like I've been smoking in the car. Any ideas how to get it out?

They are all for removing the fuel smell but not the exhaust smell. I can't very well run the car through the laundry. What do you guys use for cigarette odors. I don't want something that will stink up the car just something to neutralize it as much as possible.

Ozium air deodorizer, it smells awesome, they sell it at most gas stations

 Odorcide you can pick it up at places like Walmart. I know for a fact that it works on cigarettes, vomit, urine, poop, gas spills, and to just freshen the air in general. It can also knock down and eliminate the nastiest of farts in less than a second.

All joking aside, I take it from this thread that the best bet is either Ozium or Odorcide.
Myself, I've taken my car in to get the cigarette/musty smell out and they claim that they clean it out, but when it returned it had a heavy smell of vinegar. Now thats gone and the old smell is back. I'll try to see if I can get these two products and try them out. Good thread. TS

I had a similar issue with my truck...previous owner's had a fierce smoking habit...and still do to some extent but I've been using Tuff Stuff to scrub it out of the upholstery. It gets ground into the cloth and foam, and permeates into the carpeting and headliner, even settles onto the plastic trim.
You'll need a few cans, a good tile scrubber, and some dry towels. Spray it on and let it soak in. Scrub with the scrub brush, and then wipe it off and soak it up with the towels. You'll be surprised at the dirt that comes out. Haven't been able to treat the headliner yet...I was originally going to just replace it before my economy ground to a halt...so I held off. This stuff works well at removing that built up dirt film on your tires, too. Same process. Has a bit bit of a chemical smell from the solvent action, but with a little effort, it does wonders to pleasing the olefactory senses. I'd suggest using Armor-All cleaning wipes for the plastic surfaces, the Tuff-Stuff's not for that. Hope this helps!
