1997 5.7 Cam swap problems, Lifter tap

Okay I'm new here.

Here is what we did.

I was broke so my engine guy tried saving me some cash.

I think we might have screwed up.

We swapped out the hydraulic roller cam and lifters for a regular hydraulic cam and lifters. He also changed the pushrods because of difference in length.

The truck runs Good BUT it has a tap coming from what sounds to be the right side. He's adjusted and re adjusted and whatever else he could do. AND Still a slight tap.

So he changed out the lifters for another set, still there.

What's weird is it isn't all the time and you notice it mostly at idle.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I will print them and give them to him.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Jim
