Angry ABS+Brake warning light is on 97

I have a 97 Cavalier. I bought the car in 2003, 3 months after I got it the ABS light came on. Had a shop reset it and it was fine for another month or so then came back on again. I was told it could come on due to spining tires in the sand in the winter. No ABS doesn't bother me I actually hate ABS. But a year ago, my husband was hooking up my battery and when we started the car the Brake light was on. The Brake light had never been on before expect when I had the E-Brake ingaged. I have also has problems with the back brakes as well. They worked sometimes like normal then other times they would act like they were not engaging when I press on the pedal. Then they would finally engage and it felt like the back drivers side of the car was dropping and it would make a squealing noise. I have recently replaced the drums, shoes, wheel cyclinders and spring kit. I have also checked the brake fluid to make sure it is full. I have no idea what the problem is.

Does the brake light have anything to do with the ABS light?
Also could the EBCM cause the brake light to come on?

All input is appreciated, I am trying to keep from having to take it to the dealer. THANKS
