Trying to find a manufacturer that makes a programer to access a GM / Ford automotive on-board computers to adjust idle, Timing events, etc.....
Anyone know of any that will permit this type of access and data manipulation? I have a Scanner/Code Reader. I'm looking for something that can do more than that and.....if possible not break the bank. My cars range from 1994 (OBDI) to 1999 (OBDII). |

Re: Automotive Downloader / Programers?????
Obd 1 there is no way to do this as those pcms really were not programmable in the field. Certain companies make programs for some cars/trucks/engines that will allow fuel trim/timing/governor/speedo upgrades.

Re: Automotive Downloader / Programers?????
Maxwedge,
Thanks for the OBD1 info. I guess now the question is WHO sells these? I've seem them for tinkering with Camaros, Firebirds, Vets and trucks but not for something like a 99 Park Ave. I'm not looking for the HP / performance angle, but rather to increase the fuel economy. Any ideas???? jlm1 |
