Adding second Battery
Need Advice on adding second battery on my 99 chev. 3500.

I know of vehicle owners that have had success with this,, and what the problem is Its getting the correct belt to drive the much larger alternator.. what happens is both batteries get drained when plowing then the alternator gets severly overloaded trying to charge 2 discharged batteries... you will replace the stock alt often.. |

j cat thanks for the info. Had to replace the alt. last winter,asked at the parts store if they made a heavy duty alt. for this truck.100 amp is the biggest they show for this truck, which is what I replaced. If you or anybody
out there knows of an aftermarket place I could get a 200 amp alt. please let me know Thanks. |

find a shop that rebuilds alts. the guys there will be able to set you up.
