this e/h system is usually in need of a 200plus amp alternator...

if you factor in the extra lights and low speed operation when up/down plow height the alt. cannot produce its rated output...

I know of vehicle owners that have had success with this,, and what the problem is Its getting the correct belt to drive the much larger alternator..

what happens is both batteries get drained when plowing then the alternator gets severly overloaded trying to charge 2 discharged batteries...
you will replace the stock alt often..

Re: Adding second Battery

j cat thanks for the info. Had to replace the alt. last winter, asked at the parts store if they made a heavy duty alt. for this truck.100 amp is the biggest they show for this truck, which is what I replaced. If you or anybody
out there knows of an aftermarket place I could get a 200 amp alt. please let me know Thanks.

you will have to search your area ...and as I stated this is a problem so as to get the correct belt for the proper fit....this is a can do item...and 200amp will do the job....this is something you should find available...this is not a simple plug and run , but some modification will be needed..
