I have a 2003 Yukon with the 5.3 flex fuel engine.
It has a squeak in the belt and is driving me nuts. The serpentine belt and tensioner were replaced by the previous owner. So I have replaced the ac belt and tensioner. It wasn't that. I ran it with out the serpentien belt, so I know it must be related to the serpentine belt. I replaced the belt and it was even louder. So I replaced the tensioner and it did nothing. I am back to the first used Serpentine belt because it is quietier than the new one. Also the pulley for the fan has worn off the black paint down to the metal. It looks as if someone roughed it up with sand paper. Could the fan be hanging up the belt and making it squeak? I am out of ideas.

Re: Serpentine belt
I have an 01 5.3 and regularly replace the serpentine belt, twice a year seems to be close to keeping it some what quiet. I've also replaced the tensioner which has also helped abit. I thought I read here somewhere that it was a design flaw. Other that that I love the truck.

i've noticed that alignment being a little off too. bearings could also be bad in alternator pulley. |
