Transmission codes
Just inherited a 97 Taurus and it will not move. Code reader shows:
PO 743-Torque converter circuit electrical PO 750-Shift sol A malfunction PO 751-Shift sol A ckt performance or stuck off PO 756-Shift sol B ckt performance or stuck off PO 761-Shift sol C ckt performance or stuck off PO 755-Shift sol B malfunction PO 760-Shift sol C malfunction I would think that it is highly unlikely that three solenoids would all go out at once so there must be some other circuit problem. If it is just a matter of replacing solenoids that should be fairly easy to do but with that many problems I would think that there are some other problems than just a solenoid. The transmission also has fluid way over full but the guy who had the car (son in law of a friend of mine who knows nothing about a car) was told to check the fluid and add more if there was not enough so he may have added a few quarts just to make sure. Any word of wisdom? The car is not worth the cost of a rebuilt transmission and I do not want to go through the work of putting in a used transmission if there is some other problem. |
