1997 Park Avenue - Oil pressure at 129psi - sending unit

Just an FYI for everyone. Last week my oil reading went to 129psi and stayed there. The solution, as I expected, was a new sending unit at a cost of $54.00 from NAPA. It was fairly easy to install, but be careful when removing the old one because a few ounces of oil will pour out of the hole.

Good information. I had the question myself if oil would come out. Can you you help describe where the oil sensor is located? Thanks.

Re: 1997 Park Avenue - Oil pressure at 129psi - sending unit

I also have the same issue on my 1997 Park 3.8. When engine is running or key is just turned on to reflect gauges without engine running, mine is showing 129. I have the digital gauges in the instrument panel so do I get that one or the one for lights? Does anyone know the part number for the correct replacement sensor for my application?

1997 Park Ave. Oil pressure stuck at 129 psi

When I turn on my ignition to the switch position to just reflect gauges without the engine running, my digital oil pressure gauge is showing 129 psi. From another older post I have read, it sounded like the sensor was faulty. I pulled the wire off the old sensor which is located directly above the oil filter and the gauge went back to showing 0 psi. I have the digital gauges in the instrument panel so I went to Autozone and got a Duralast PS421 pressure switch for $40. I believe the AC Delco number is 213-1650 for my application. Changed it out with a 27mm socket. Just a little oil dripped down my arm while changing the old one with the new one. After changing, my digital gauge is finally showing PSI other than 129 psi that it gets stuck on with the engine on or off. Hope this helps any Park owner that has this seemingly common problem. It took longer to jack the car up then to change out the faulty sending unit.
