Question about trunk lock...

I have a 97 Monte Carlo..... just curious about the lock on the trunk. The other day I went to open the trunk and the lock wouldn't turn, then I went back 5 minutes later and it opened fine. Now the darn thing won't open at all... we thought at first it was frozen due to the snow here in Michigan, but it's defrostred and was raining here all day and 55 degrees, and it still won't open.

Does anyone know how hard/easy it would be and maybe how costly it'd be to replace the lock on the trunk?

The car's older, I know, but with the small amount of miles on it, it's really more affordable for us to keep it and fix any minor problems... just not sure how hard it's be to fix.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Question Re: Question about trunk lock...

Rebecca , I see your question is over a month old with no responses . In that length of time , you may already have fixed your problem . But if not , I'd suggest going to an auto parts store ( i.e.-autozone , pep boys , etc.) and buying some graphite lubricant and spraying it into your locks , all of them . Even if the problem has been corrected , I'd still do this as a preventative measure . Let us know if you get your problem corrected . Good luck !
