Question 1986 Ford F150 electral problems

can anyone help me with a wuestion
my truck has a new starter but it doesn't disengage after truck starts?

souds like you need to shim it up or the starter you bought is not any good if you bought a bad rebuilt one.? but i say it needs shims. do you know if shims dropped out when removing starter? another thing take it off and check it with battery charger or take it to where you bought it and have them check it. one other thing did you jack it up on one side then put it in? if so you need to jack both sides up it might be in a bind take it out and reinstall with both front wheels up off of ground.

More than likely the starter you bought is defective. Ford does not use shims on starters. Could possibly be the fender mounted solenoid also.
