how do I make a dual exhaust quieter?
I have a 93 1500 with the six. The previous owner put a cat-back exhaust on it. I still has the catalytic, but no mufflers. The pipe goes to a Y after the catalytic, and then it's straight pipes to the back. It looks nice and rednecky, but it's louder than I would like. I thought of either putting in a stock exhaust, or adding mufflers somewhere. The issue is that with two tailpipes, I would need two mufflers, and if I did that, then wouldn't there be too much back pressure?

Use straight-through mufflers or factory take-off resonators.

any local muffler shop can hook you up with a muffler thats a little softer and put it in for you. probably around 150.00 bucks or so.

OMG!
You're on the wrong forum if you don't like listening to your exhaust! Turn the radio up. |

My 1992 Silverado used to be my nephews and has Very loud pipes. I understand you wanting to quiet them down. I'm too old to drive a loud truck...

There is not much room for big mufflers.
Take it to a shop and choose a small diameter muffler that will still lower noise levels. I run two mufflers and dont have any problems with back presure. Good luck!
