I have a 95 cavalier z24 and when the car is running it sounds like a loud raddle or tapping sound. Now i think it could be the timing chain because the sound is on the passenger side under the hood. It started after getting stuck in the snow and as hardheaded as i am i would rather just hammer it then dig it out.
Thanks Tahoe4x4guy |

Re: 95 cavalier engine noise
is the noise all the time or just at certain rpm/load? this sounds similar to my 97 z24, mine makes the most noise at around 2500-3000 rpm when under low load (let off the gas, shifting, etc). My motor sounds great when idling or under hard acceleration, it is just when I let off the gas. to me mine sounds like a bearing knock...I guess I'll find out when I tear into it in a week or so...

Re: 95 cavalier engine noise
It seems to be mostly or the loudest at idle. Its my wifes car and when it starts is when you hear it the most and when she pulled away i didn`t really hear it almost as if as you speed up the sound die`s out.
