Completed - 1/20 Multimedia RB1 (2005)

Hi all,

After many months I've finally completed another build - 2005 Redbull RB1, Monaco "Starwars" version. I've been pushing hard to get it finished before Christmas and made it just in the nick of time! It had all the usual challenges and annoyances that multimedia kits normally do, but in the end I'm quite happy with the result. Did my best with the pics and I think they came out reasonably well too.

I'm not going to go into details about the kit given all the issues with Redbull and licensing, so just enjoy the pics and click the link below to go to the full set of pictures (including progress shots) if you'd like to. Oh and if the pics here are too big, just let me know and I'll resize them.

Full set of pictures.

And the kit on the base I made for it:

That's all the pics I'll post for now, but again, many more can be seen here. Constructive comments always welcome.

Cheers all, and Merry Christmas!
Mark

P.S. I should probably add that if anyone here does actually know about the origins of this kit, best to keep it to yourself.

More pics - Completed - 1/20 Multimedia RB1 (2005)

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Just a few pointers on the base in case anyone is interested. Plus I'm a bit of a picture junky at times so thought I'd put some more up...
You can see here a somewhat standard plactic type frame, glass top, etc.

Wood backing…

The picture was created on Photoshop, and enlarged at a photography store on glossy paper. Slightly cropped so it would fit the frame properly. It was a bit of a bugger as the frame was some $2 dodgy Chinese thing, and while it looks good for this purpose, it wasn’t in any standard photo enlargement size. So it took a bit of stuffing about to get it to fit properly.

A couple more shots just for the hell of it…

Now it’s just a matter of figuring out which F1 kit is next…!

Honestly though I think I’ll take a short F1 break, and make something else. Just a short break though…
Cheers all,
M

P.S. Plus I now get to put a cool little Redbull/Starwars hyperspacey picture in my signature... call me immature, but I've been hanging out to do this for ages... hehe

Great build of a striking car. Too bad it didn't do as well as it looked.

I must say I am very impressed by your build. Looks really spot on and very clean.
And your photography skills really let it shine. Fab.

Excellent job! Not my fave livery and certainly not easy to decal, but you did a great job on this one!

Re: Completed - 1/20 Multimedia RB1 (2005)

jano11: I'd have to agree, I'm not a huge fan of how the car actually looks - especially given that the flames aren't very realistic like on the real machine. However I've been a Starwars fan since I was quite young so when I saw this car take the track I said to myself that if there was ever a kit of it made that I'd get one, however difficult. So here it is.

Now if someone would just make it possible to build Coultards last race livery Redbull... that would be something.

Kudos to that!

Agree, a beautiful one of livery! A shame his race wasn't up to it.
