Question please help me get my b16 90si running

i have a b16a in a 90 si hatch. the car hasnt ran in a year and i finally got time and found the fuel pump was bad. i put in a walbro and everything was good at first. the car fired up and ran for fifteen seconds then died. when i turned the key off and then back to on i noticed the ecu light not flashing and the fuelpump is not kicking on either. everything else works though. when the key is on the check engine light stays on and dosent go off. i was told that means a fuel probem? Seriously though, help me out. i need to get this thing going again. thanks

Re: please help me get my b16 90si running

Im telling you this because ive had it happen twice. the main relay is fed power through the ignition, via fuse no 14. I have checked that fuse before and it checked out fine with a tester but was blown.. look real close. It will cause the CEL to stay on without going through the diagnostic. Usually blows because you shorted one of the black/yel wires under the hood or injector wires or something.

Re: please help me get my b16 90si running

i apologize, you were the exact person i was looking for. so of course you were right and the 14 fuse was blown. i had one spare ten fuse left and as soon as the car fired up it blew again immediatley. i didt see any exposed or shorts. what was it exactly in your case?

Re: please help me get my b16 90si running

Well to start off my car is converted to obd1, and I also have a 4 wire o2 sensor.. all done myself, that being said I left the 4 wires uncovered the first time on the o2 sensor and the 12v shorted on the tranny case. The second time I had loosened the fuel rail to replace an o ring and tightened it back down with one of the injector wires smashed under the fuel rail.. so it blew. If you pull up the service manual for the car it tells you how to diagnose this. I would first check your fuel pump wires and all injector wires under the hood. Also the iacv.

All blk/yel wires are on the same circuit right off the main relay.

Re: please help me get my b16 90si running

in addition to the new fuel pump i just re-put on an aftermarket fuel rail which worked fine before. i didnt find anything with the injector wires but my car stock had two o2 sensors on the downpipe and the one i have has one. my check engine light used to come on for this sensor when the car ran. im not sure how its wired but i bet that its pretty shoddy. is this the o2 sensor that you mentioned? if so what is the right way to wire it. merry christmas and thanks 4 the help.

Re: please help me get my b16 90si running

No the b16 has two 1 wire o2 sensors. My car uses a heated o2, that has 4 wires, a power, ground, control and o2 sensor wire.

Re: please help me get my b16 90si running

what im trying to say is in my case its ok to wire the two into one? you have what i want to have but i gotta do some other stuff first, like get it running, and i want to make what i got work for now. i still gotta go through inspection. my tags and registration have been expired ever since the car stopped running being on the road is #1 priority. the help has been great. im about to go in the garage and really get into it and see what i can find.

Re: please help me get my b16 90si running

Well some people have used one o2 sensor to run to both inputs.. but I wouldnt recommend it, your likely to throw codes.

Re: please help me get my b16 90si running

It might be the wiring to your alternator. Might have a short in there. You said when you disconnected it the fuse didn't blow, that's where I would look first. Also, make sure that you have both your grounds for the motor. There should be one going from somewhere on the transmission side (usually right off the bracket where you adjust your clutch cable), and also a ground wire on the head. If you don't have this your car will do some trippy stuff.
