02 Cavalier trunk wont close/open

I have an 02 Cav that does not seem to want to open when the remote button or the in car button is pressed. When the key is put into the slot, the lock does not disengage. The trunk will eventually open after about 10-15 button pushes!!!

any advice?

Re: 02 Cavalier trunk wont close/open

I have the exact same issue with my 04 sunfire bro. It takes my car like 5 pushes and I then have to give her a good yank. The cold weather make everything work like crap.

I'm going to tear mine apart tomorrow I think at the shop along with my driver side door since it doesn't like to unlock either. Lube them up with some good lithium grease and hope for the best. I'll report back what I find.

Re: 02 Cavalier trunk wont close/open

A buddy of mine was telling me that there is a bar in the latching system that can be bent?

anyone heard about this? I am pretty much at this point ready to foresake opening the trunk for the rest of the winter. The grease thing did work for a bit, but that ended quick.

the other thing that I wanted to ask you guys is, any good cold air intakes and cat back systems that you can suggest? I have been looking at http://www.rksport.com/main/catalog_...id=109&catid=3

Re: 02 Cavalier trunk wont close/open

Well I looked at everything today and tore my car apart only to find out my rear trunk locking mechanism looks like its been through hell and back.

Then my door popper mechanism on the driver side seems to be weak since it cannot fully pop the door handle.

So i am going to track down a new truck latch and door solenoid.

If you want to buy an Rksport product, don't buy directly through them. You'll be raped.

Look into www.Carcustoms.net

Re: 02 Cavalier trunk wont close/open

Thanks for the advice on the products. I am not really looking for any huge performance gains, just tired of having to pass a line of transports in fourth. I was thinking of putting in a short ram cold air intake, intake manifold and cat back. What is your opinion on the pace setter stuff? I have heard it's crap and that it is okay.Any advice on plugs? I bought the car used with 89,000 km on it. Not bad for an '02 for 3 grand
