crankshaft position sensor code

we had an issue with a pully on our van and got it replaced along with the belt, the very next day the engine started hesitating we got it checked on the computer and it said it was a crankshaft position sensor issue I know nothing about cars it said it could be just disconnected, my question is is that part anywhere near the belt, that it could have been bumped? how hard of a fix is this. we just bought it and have had nothing but problems... merry christmas to us ;(

Re: crankshaft position sensor code

one of the crankshaft sensors is behind the harmonic balancer[the big pulley at the bottom] it could have taken a hit from the belt or could have been bump when the work was done. is the tach working? usually when this one is bad or a loose connector it messes up the tach. sometimes it won't crank and run.if i remember this one is the 24x .there is one more that is on the backside of the engine [ 7x] that will make it miss as it works with the module.but check the connector behind the harmonic balancer for a loose connection first.let us know what you find....
