Its pretty bad, Im about to complete a 2 year Assoc. of Mach. Tech. degree so I should be able to identify all of those, but I cant, .

Just a guess,

#1 is a left hand cutting tool (cuts right to left), not sure about 2 & 3, #4 Im thinking is an internal boring tool, #5 is a cut off tool, dunno #6, #7 I think is for threading, and #8 would be a right hand cutting tool (cut left to right).

Again, this is just a guess.

Re: Lathe cutting tools

While some of them do have intended uses (5 would work as a cutoff tool, 7 a thread cutter), they don't each have specific tasks. It is simply a collection of potentially useful shapes. Think of it like a set of needle files-



- hopefully, there is one (or more) that will do the task you have in mind.
