97 Highline won't go into drive

Goes into Park/Reverse/Neutral/1/2 all fine.

When you take it from neutral to drive it acts like it's still in neutral.
1 to Drive = Still in 1.

?????

Have you checked the fluid level lately? When was the last time you had the fluid changed?
