Ain't sounding right!
Any thoughts on my 2005 Taurus starting to sound like a cement mixer over the last 10 days?
Took it into today to my Ford Dealership for a routine fuel filter change and I asked them to look at the exhust system. I was pretty sure I had a leak in the piping. They could not find any exhust leaks and did not hear anything unusual driving it into the bay and back out. (On the verge of a blizzard here so no road test.) Anyway, once I'm up to about 30mph and above, fairly strong road noise similar to a exhust leak, but apparently not. I kind of feel it in my feet so the origin of the sound so perhaps if right below me. Any thoughts or similarities?? |

Re: Ain't sounding right!
Wheel bearing?
Can you describe the sound a bit better? There are a lot of different sounds that can emanate from a cement mixer. -Rod |

Re: Ain't sounding right!
Kind of a loud road noise sound as if any sound insulation I have fell off. I "feel" the noise in my feet (gas pedel) as in the slightest, but constant vibration.

Re: Ain't sounding right!
Thanks for the ideas, I do appreciate them! One last question before I take her in, does a wheel bearing problem sound like its covered under the warrenty? I have the original "bumper to bumper" warrenty for about 11,000 more miles. Asking as we all know that not everything is covered within those two bumpers!!!

Re: Ain't sounding right!
You'll have to check the verbiage of the warranty. I would think it would be covered under a powertrain warranty or the bumper to bumper, but I've never had one fail under warranty.

Re: Ain't sounding right!
And the answer is...........................
RF Wheel Bearing Thanks for the advice Shorod!! This was priced at about $300 to repair, with my extended Bumper to Bumper it was a $100 deductible and it took 1 hr to fix. As Shorod and my service adviser said, a bad wheel bearing make a lot of racket. Thanks again. |

Re: Ain't sounding right!
You're welcome, glad to hear you got it fixed and it was covered under warranty! And also thank you for following up with the solution. That will likely help someone else in the future.
