Unhappy Silverleaf Dreamin' ***56K Users Beware*** Lots of Pics.

Hello everyone. My latest project was inspired by Hiroboy's Black Tamiya Supra. Like his, mine also started as a Tamiya Toyota Supra, but that's all they have in common. I started by spraying the chassis and interior flat black. I taped the wheel-wells and sprayed the chassis with Tamiya silver leaf. The interior has a Racing bucket seat, seat belts, and gauges w/custom pods. Not satisfied with the stock exhaust system, I made my own (pictures this time). After the exhaust was complete, I covered it with chrome foil and polished it. I painted and assembled the suspension next. While that was drying, I added custom touches to a very detailed engine bay. Scratch built, Greddy style blowoff valve, intake pipes w/ Revell ITR air filters, and R-34 Intercooler with piping. I've added steel braided wires to the radiator, Positive and Negative battery wires, gauge wires, and various others. The stock air intake system was modified a bit and covered with carbon fiber decals.
The Advan Model 5 wheels show off the hand drilled, stock Brembo brakes. Exterior mods were going to include, scratch built photo-etched wind diffusers, SARD Toyota Supra rear wing(with carbon insert), and GT side mirrors. The reason I said was going to include, is because the paint peeled right off with the tape while detailing. I was almost finished! Pics. hide mistakes, but this was going to be my "bread winner". It has to be perfect in person or it's a parts car. Well, it's not a total loss. I'm going to strip the body, and start over. Same color, 'cause I am not redoing the chassis. Well, enough talking. Here's Silverleaf Dreamin'
I'll start by showing you how I make my exhausts.

You have to break the bottom of the pencil to free the top.

You'll need to break two pencils in order for this to work.

Cut the tips to a desired length.

The exhaust is starting to take shape.

Next you glue the two tips together, add putty(any kind), sand, and paint.

The Peeled paint is just to the right of the mirror hole.

Here's the other ruined spot. Paint peeled while painting the taillight housing.

My fav part of the kit.

Last Pic. Notice the seat belt buckle.........

Can't you just buy something like evergreen tubing or something?!?!

You're wasting perfectly good pencils.

The silver is a very nice color, I like the blacked out light housing! The gold valve cover is nice!

I made a write-up on making exhaust out of stylene earlier, and I only spent $4USD total for 7 tubes (3 big 7/32", 4 small 5/32").

Spare plastic and imagination. The Greddy website helped also

Thanks for the props. I have to strip the body and repaint it, so I will not be entering it in a Local show next weekend.

Great work. Nice engine bay. But you wasted 2 pencils just to make a exhaust.

I'm ok with it. They(pencils) aren't expensive, only a few dollars. I spend more on photo-etched parts than pencils. Plus look at the end result, IMO the exhaust turned out very real looking.

Good job

the brakes, u should sand it down flat after u drilled, looks like they need to be cleaned up a little with a file too.

what kind of paint did u use on the exhaust? thats freaking shiny.

since ur repainting, take care of that nasty mold line.
