help with starting

ok i have an 86 mustang GT runs like a bat out of hell its so sick i just replaced the flywheel and starter it clicks and once in a long while it turns over

If you just replaced the starter, the first thing that comes to mind is bad electrical connections. Recheck that first. Check both the positive connection at the starter and check for a good ground path as well.

Second thing is check the battery - that's a classic symptom of weak or dead battery.

Third thing is a potential bad starter solenoid.

And last and least likely is that you received a defective replacement starter. You can pull it and bench test by using jumper cables.

the stater solenoid was bad
