snow

I have a 1998 legacy outback and I don’t know if I should chain the front back or all 4 any help thanks

dpends on i guess how much snow.
i lived in pa and never had any problems with 4 good matching radials.
course, i liked michelins best, xones, and then hydroedge.
aside from snow too deep to plow through...
no problems.

I have a '90 legacy and have never chained it- even when chains were reqiured in our snowy oregon mountian passes... However, I have heard that you are supposed to chain all four, but you can get away with just the front. It is hard on the all-whell drive to have differant tire sizes, and the chains make the diameter bigger... I think this is worse for the auto-trans cars...
