e36 angel eye install - why ae's don't work?

I installed some angel eyes last summer but the rings aren't working. Anyone had similar experience? Thanks

angel eyes

I got them from Germany, spliced the wires according to instructions, headlights work fine, there are bulbs already in the rings but they never turned on. Haven't worried about it since it's too cold outside to re-investigate and "dig-in" again.
