Truck cuts off while driving.
I have a 97 GMC Suburban, the truck starts up fine. Runs ok for a few then cuts off while I'm driving. It will start back up run for a few then cut off. I tried to punch it to see what it would do, it just hesitated then cut off. It started back up again so I really don't know what it is?

Re: Truck cuts off while driving.
Check fuel pressure for starters. Need 65 psi.

5.7 Vortek engine. If it is fuel pressure, is it an expensive fix?

Tank pump, can be expensive, dealership price could be 550.00

Re: Truck cuts off while driving.
Hi I'm dealing with the same problem on my 96 suburban if you read my post see if it seems the same. If you solve the problem post what your repair was to fix it I will do the same.

Re: Truck cuts off while driving.
does everything cut out- including all electrical? we had a 96 silverado that would cut out going down the road and it must have been just a poor connection on one of the relays in the relay center under the hood because on a tip from a shade tree mechanic we pulled them out and cleaned the posts on them and we never had another problem with the vehicle from then on.
