VIR Test and Tune, updated details! Lower cost!

The details are final and the event is a go! lets get a good Panoz turnout!!

Extreme Speed Motorsports in cooperation with Asphalt Ventures will be hosting a private, by invitation only, test and tune at VIR Full course Thursday February 26th. The event is open only to skilled Advanced+ level drivers.(Driving history and skill level may be required to be verified or your slot released and entry fee refunded. If you have questions please email [email protected] before registering) The event is geared towards getting lots of open lap time without having to fight the typical HPDE or lapping day traffic. We will enforce passing anywhere with a point. The key word here is WITH a point. Although this is an open track day we will stress safety and courtesy that we need to make this event fun and exciting for everyone involved.

This event will be broken into 2 groups:

"The Wings" - Geared towards /track/race prepped cars who's driver/car laptimes are faster than 2:20 at VIR Full. The Wings group will be limited to the first 15 entries and on track cars limited to 10 at one time. Cost for this group is $350 and will give the driver lots of open track and low traffic sessions. Each session will be one hour+ long.

"The dings" Geared towards advanced level drivers who are comfortable with an open passing run group and are able to manage traffic and advanced driving techniques effectively and quickly. The "Dings" group will be for cars/drivers running slower than 2:21 laps, this group is only for advanced solo qualified drivers only. Cost for this group is $300

We will run from 8:30-5:00 with parade laps during lunch between 12-1pm for your friends or family.

The intent is to group cars into sessions with cars of similar speeds/laps times to prevent lots of traffic and the need for passing. Participants should see more than 3+ hours of low traffic or traffic free laps to work on or fine tune the skills you desire. ESM is also working to invite a couple of highly skilled driving coaches to further help hone your driving skills.(for an additional fee if a driving coach is desired- cost TBD) Registration should be open by Friday Dec 19th and slots will fill up fast.

Run groups will be broken down as follows
7:30-8:00 drivers meeting MANDATORY for all drivers
8:30-9:30 Wings
9:30-10:30 Dings
10:30- 12:00 Wings
12:00-1:00 Lunch and parade laps
1:00-2:00 Dings
2:00-3:15- Wings
3:15-4:00 Dings
4:00-5:00 Combined run groups
>
> This will give everyone over 4 hours of possible track, more than your typical TWO day HPDE.

No, we can set you up with a "check ride" and show you the line. Imay start you out in the "Dings" and if you feel comfortable enough move you up mid day.

Feel free to sign up though, should be a great event and I would LOVE to get a mini Panoz reunion together!

Re: VIR Full Test n tune day anyone?

I guess I really need to get a TraqMate - or a partner that can operate a stop watch

What lap times are you guys getting at VIR?
Sounds like the discussion above says less than 2:20.

Unfortunately this is not the time of year for me to venture that far North, but when I got Stacey's e-Mail today, I was wondering if our cars are Wings or Dings???

I know I've left myself WIDE open for commentary on my driving here

Get the TraqMate - Santa brought me one
We ran 2:14's in the BMW's and think we are @ 2:10-2:13 in the Panoz with much more room to shave......that's the idea behind this test and tune event.... hone in the car a 'tad.

I would honestly think that you would fall to Wings given your track experience and driving ability - as the car is capable of 2:05's on Full Course (if not better)....

COME UP - IT WILL BE A BLAST!

Re: VIR Full Test n tune day anyone?

yeah, what devin said, the CAR is easily a 2:05 or less car... so if you don't do better than that it's the drivers fault! ;-)

Re: VIR Full Test n tune day anyone?

Hey Eric, do I need to worry about how loud my car is at VIR? And do they sell race fuel or do I need to bring my own? Please let me know if there is anything else that I need to be aware of. Having never been to VIR I don't know the rules...

No worry about sound, they don't care and don't check(except quiet hour at lunch time) and yes they sell race fuel, not sure exactly what octane, but last time i put 101octane in i think...

Re: VIR Full Test n tune day anyone?

WTF? Only 2 Panoz's registered. One is me, the other is Eric, and he's not even in my run group. Come on guys... I'm gonna get tired of running down P-cars and Vets.

Re: VIR Full Test n tune day anyone?

No kidding, Honestly the event is in jeopardy of being canceled due to lack of attendance if registrations don't pick up. So, tell all your friends!

Oh, that would suck. How far away are we from having enough attendees? I'm talking to a couple of friends but being a week day is killing them.
