Hi everyone, I need help please?
I took apart my glove box, heater controls, radio, ashtray and I still don't see where the Blend Door Actuator is located. I've looked at this 98 Blazer http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t574779.html thread but the picture shown is nothing like my 2000 truck's glove box view at all. I've looked everywhere inside the dash and I can't seem to find it......does anyone know where or has ever changed their Blend Door Actuator on a 2000 S-10??? I'd appreciate the help so very much. I'm freezing trying to find this thing. Thanks again!!! |

I've got to assume you mean "Temperature door" since you say you are freezing- The electric temp door actuator is up on top of the HVAC module- should be able to see it with the glove box out- it is on the right end on top. See if actuator is turning as you traverse from full hot to full cold- if not- then remove actuator and see if it works- and at the same time see if temp door moves. Then replace actuator if that is what is wrong.
The other door is the mode door...

When I look through the glove box, all I see is the part in the link with the "mode actuator" arm facing to the left (towards the stereo, drivers side) and I see nothing that resembles the Blend Door actuators large flat wide part that I see on Autozone and in the 98 Blazer thread in my first post. Am I looking in the right place or am I confusing you? I wish I had pictures but my sisters is using my camera

I just got the camera back and here's what I see........
This is from the front Glove box view....... ![]() This is top right glove box view....... ![]() This is lower right below glove box view...... ![]() And lastly, this is from the Drivers side lower right gas pedal view...... ![]() I hope this helps and sorry if the pics are too big but can anyone tell me where the Blend Door Acuator is or close to which item in the pics??? Thanks a lot everyone

Sounds now like you have NO vacuum to mode doors- which is a very common failure mode- look underhood a vacuum reservoir big ball usually mounted to hood on driver's side- see if vacuum lines are plugged in- and check black plastic lines for cracks, or breaks- trace vacuum line back to intake manifold to confiirm vacuum is adequate. Hoses and lines become brittle and crack easily with age- repair by splicing slip fit hoses over the plastic line..no need for clamps-this is vacuum, not pressure.
The system is spring-loaded to default to defrost in case of total loss of vacuum- as yours seems to have done- this is for safety so that there is never a fogging problem on the windshield. Your original complaint should have stated that you have great airflow, and great temperature control, just that all the air comes out the defrost, regardless of what mode you have selected... I was even thinking bad heatr core for awhile- until you mentioned the defrost was good...

As said. You are losing vacuum.. Get a vacuum gauge and check for good engine vacuum to heater controls. Vacuum balls are some times hid under or in right side fender. Find that rascal and check for engine vacuum to and threw it. Good Luck

I do, however, see to the left side, a large plastic greyish cover that extends far down below to where the shock is with about 5 little screw bolts and 5 big bolts and to the left of that has something to do with the A/C? I'm lost here, help please?.......sorry if I'm being a pain but I'm not an expert unless it's staring at me in the face with a sign saying "I'M THE PIECE YOU'RE LOOKING FOR" but I'm not totally inept Thanks again. |

There should be a plastic vacuum line usually black from the vacuum ball back to the firewall and on to the heater controls.
Also a plastic vacuum line from engine intake with engine vacuum on it. The right side is on the right sitting in the drivers seat. Look around and try to find the plastic lines and trace them down. The ball is sometimes hid in the right front part of fender area. If you can not find it check for good engine vacuum to heater controls inside cab. If no vacuum inside cab at heater controls trace the vacuum lines back to right hand fender area and on to engine intake. The ball could be hid or someone could have removed it or just a BROKEN PLASTIC VACUUM LINE OR A RUBBER LINE END CAME OFF. Look things over good. Good Luck

Assuming it’s the same as the 2000 Blazer...
The vacuum canister is located inside the driver’s side fender well next to the ABS module. The hose junctions are directly behind the module and “T” off to HVAC through a small black plastic line that bundles into the wiring harness and from there through the firewall. |

Yes.
I think you found the vacuum feed line from engine compartment that should go to the heater vacuum controls. I also see it in first set of pictures but was not looking at vacuum lines then. Did you find the vacuum routing diagram under hood? First thing. Check the end of that black line for engine vacuum. Black plastic line indicates the engine feed line to heater controls. But the end on it is odd for that line. If it does not or will not plug into heater controls someplace check all vacuum control balls on heater housing for one being off. Most of them should have two lines cvacuum lines on them. If vacuum on the black line with engine running pull ac/heater controls and see if you can see anyplace it plugs into them.
