Lincoln Ls Coil Misfires
I need help with my 2002 lincoln ls. Coils continue to Misfire and would like to know if there is anything I can do to help prevent this. Whenever I bring this my car to the dealership they replace the coils and then they will misfire a few weeks later. Every Suggestions would be appreciated. Very car repair declined, but hoping to bring it to a mechanic with suggestions to solve or reduce this problem. Thank you.

Re: Lincoln Ls Coil Misfires
Welcome to the forum!
Have you tried searching the forum for the common issues that cause coils to fail in the 2000 through 2002 model years? As the "Search this Forum" feature should be everyone's first attempt to answer a question before starting a new thread, I'll let you try it out. Don't hesitate to ask for help. I'll suggest you start by searching for the keyword "gasket." You could also search for keyword "coil." -Rod |

Re: Lincoln Ls Coil Misfires
You did not say if you have the 3.0 or the 3.9. Service Tech's have a TSB 05-16-2, for diagnosing your COP problem. If there is moisture present in the spark plug wells, a new cowel panel grill foam seal is supposed to be installed. Part number 5W4Z-54021A46-A. Hope this helps.

I have the 3.9L engine. Are those the correct model numbers?

Re: Lincoln Ls Coil Misfires
Since a TSB is not the same as a recall and your 2002 would be out of warranty, I would suggest determining if your coils are floating in water or oil. If water, the cowl gasket will be a good place to start. If oil, you're looking at plug well seals. You can swing by your local chain auto parts store and likely get the misfire codes read for free. This will point you to which coil(s) to check first.
