strut help

a friend of mine owns a 92 honda civic hatch vx (have no clue what any of that means). who put lowering springs on but i think she left the stock sized struts on. does that matter?

story goes she nailed a curb and messed the strut on the passenger side. the strut bushing seperated and the rod is now moleded in the hood. how can we do a fast easy fix? please help. thanks.
