stiff spots in steering 02 Dak Quad 4x4

Anybody know what might be making my Dakota have very stiff spots when turning either way. It feels like the truck is in 4 wheel drive. No noise from the powersteering pump. Plenty of good fluid, no leaks. I read about the "rack" being a problem...does that get lubed?? any help here? thanks

It is probaly the sterring shaft going to the rack and pinion from the steering column. One of the joints is froze right up.Only way to fix this is get a new steer shaft called a coupler from the dealer only and is not cheap
