Re: Lights Out

To disable the daytime running lights only, you have to open the little cover that is inside the drivers door jam. Inside you will find a big heatsinc with two wires plugged into it. Just simply reach in and unplug it. Then turn your ignition on and see if your DRL's come on. They shouldnt.

Next to disable automatic headlights when it gets dark, you need to go to radioshack and buy a diode. I used this radio shack part number 1N4003, but i suppose any diode will work. I cant remember the exact specs for mine, but it is rated 200v peak, and 1 amp peak, so anything around these specs should be fine. Park your car in the sunlight and verify the headlights arent on. Once you have your diode, take off the little trim piece in the middle of your dash housing a sensor and a red LED light. Then unplug the sensor furthest towards the right (passenger side). Turn your car to run and see if your headlights are on. If they are, you have found the right sensor. Then form the diode leads to go into the plug that your just unplugged. plug it in there one way and turn your car on. the diode can only go in one way to work, so if the headlights are still on when you turn your car on, put it in the opposite way. One direction should work, and once you found it, just wrap some black electrical tape around it to make sure it doesnt contact any metel, and button it all back up in the dash.

Re: Lights Out

if you dont wanna mess with wiring...you can also just remove the fuse for the DRL's. thats what i did. only downside to this is your auto on/off doesnt work so you gotta manually turn on your headlights at night.
