Power Steering Leak
I have a 91 berretta 2.2L. In the last month the car goes through about a quart of power steering fluid. I looked all over and I do not see where it is leaking by the pump, when I was crawling out from under the car I noticed a line that looked like it was leaking, Under the passenger side floor board by the rocker panel a line comes down from what looks like the lines that come off of the power steering pump. Basically the line make a "U" turn and returns, but has fittings and I believe they are leaking. Is this a power steering line? I went to autozone and they have no clue?
Any other ideas or info would be appreciated. |

Re: Power Steering Leak
yeah that is for the power steering it is a cooling line and if it leaking then it is time to replace it,i had one that did the same thing, when you follow it up it will go to two rubber lines and you will haft to pull the holders off then just two clamps

Re: Power Steering Leak
On these cars I've worked on had a highpressure hose for the rack and pinion and a return line to the pump.
Use a flashlight and follow the hose from the pump to the rack. If its leaking buy the high pressure power steering hose. You may have to a parts store like Napa or another store with experienced parts help. They sell return hose at the parts store. If the rack is leaking buy a rebuilt rack and pinion. The high pressure hose has a thread fitting at the pump. The return pump has a hose clamp at the pump. Last edited by rhandwor; 12-18-2008 at 08:12 AM. |
