2001 Monte LS...(electrical)

Hi guys new to the forum but have been reading through and found that many people seem to be having problems similar to me. I have taken it to 2 different places and no one can seem to find the problem. As stated i have a 2001 LS with all the option including one star if that matters. The car has 77,000 roughly...For the last year or more i have been having the following issues..

1. drivers side window would roll down but when i would roll it up it would go real slow and one day took a dive. im figuring that is either a switch or a motor but not sure if its related to something else, cause my passenger side window works when i control it from the drivers side switch.

2. turn signals work only at times...sometimes if i turn the hazards on for 5secs or so my turn signals will begin to work.

3. My cruise control does not work, sometimes i can see the light on but still no cruise. Once in a blue moon the cruise will actually work.

4. A/c will not come on. Over time i have found certain "sweet spots" by whacking the side of the a/c panel. And the a/c works like a charm.

5. Heat and rear defroster has stoped working, i can have the heat full blast and it shoots out cold air.

6. Security lights comes on but nothing happens. i can still use my radio, start my car and have not noticed anything different when it comes on.

7. Battery can not hold a charge if it sits longer than 2 days. If i dont drive my car over the weekend come monday i have to jump it every time. I had the alternator checked and it was fine. I also had a new batteery installed and that worked great for about 6-7 months and then the problem started all over.

Wow, i feel like i just wrote a book. i know this is a lot of things but to me it seems like they all may be tied together. If any of this sounds familar please give me a good place to start. Thanks for your help...

Re: 2001 Monte LS...(electrical)

I have a 2002 SS with minor electrical problems. I was able to solve most of them by using the wire diagrams and checking the wires. Found that the computers were the cause of things not working and bypassed them with toggle switches. From the wire diagrams I determined that the computer was simply not grounding the circuit. So I set up a toggle switch that just completes the circuit.
I would also suggest you use the wire diagrams to check the ground circuits. One bad ground wire can cause havoc. Some things will work, others will act strange or not at all.

Is that replaceable at home? Do you mean the actual hazard switch in the dash?
