Re: difference in carbs?
The biggest difference I know is the venting system. Older car carbs vented to outside air. Later carbs vented to emmision "collection" canisters. Marine carbs vent inside the air cleaner to prevent fumes from accumilating in the engine compartment. They work together with the "spark arrestor" air cleaner "top".
That being said, I've known plenty of boaters that used standard Holleys right out of the box. As long as the spark arrestor is in place, they should be fine. Just curious, but how does one arrive at 408 CID from an LT-1 "sleeved" (in your sig)? Bore? Stroke? Jim |
