1995 Quest van ?

This may sound like a stupid question , but .... is a 1995 Quest van's transmission an overdrive ? It belongs to my daughter and I've driven it a few times . I noticed on the gear indicator it says D,1,2 . This indicates a three speed tranny to me . Also , it has a long hesitation between the 1st gear and 2nd gear when accelerating. Sometimes it will go up to around 4000 rpms before it shifts . Sometimes if you left off the accelerator , it will shift quicker , sometimes it doesn't have any effect at all . Any help will be appreciated !

Your transmission is a 4 speed (overdrive). On the gear selection lever there is a button on the end, pushing this button will turn the OD of and on.

Here is a link for the FSM for the Quest/VIllager:

http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/

scroll down to Quest and click on it and choose year then go to AT section (Automatic Transmission)

Have you checked for any codes? Manual I believe also has procedure for checking codes.

Also read the thread just below yours on hard shifting it maybe the same problem.

Post codes and hope this helps
