2003 TB gauge problems

I'm now having the gauge problem that I know many others have had. In my case its the Tach. It gets stuck at a higher RPM and operates as if 7k is 0k. To reset it I found putting the vehicle in drive with the engine off and turning the ignition on and off multiple times will drop it in 1k increments with each gauge reset. This will only help for a day or so or the next cold morning... Any way... has anyone had any luck with GM covering this as warranty??? I have heard varying opinions on this.... Being that I have an 03 with 64k I think I may be on my own. If so has anyone found a cheap fix without replacing the whole cluster.

Stepper motor in the tach area is the most common issue with these. Check with a dealer for any warrantee consideration.
