2001 GTP Sluggish and Bogging Down

I was reading through some posts on here concerning this issue however thought that I might try to get a little more in depth solution. I have a 2001 GP GTP w/54K Mileage. The problem arose last night while driving, I stopped a light and when attempting to go the vehicle bogged down and would not accelerate; vehicle then stalled about .5 miles later. I did not see any indicator lights and had trouble restarting the car as it would stall out immediately after cranking. After about 30 minutes the car started and was able to drive about 18 mph to a gas station; sat another 30 minutes and started right up and drove great for about an hour and problem showed up again with car stalling. Had vehicle serviced at local shop and they replaced the O2 sensor and MAF. Drove away and went great for about an hour then started bogging again. Pulled over and put injector cleaner and dry gas in however no luck. Finally put vehicle in 3rd and drives great; no misfire or bogging although gas mileage is horrible now; only about 21 mpg when before was getting 31 mpg highway. Mechanic stated that the cat was reading a temp close to 600 degrees when he pulled on the hoist. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to be detailed. Questions would be; Could this indicate a bad CAT? Or clogged injectors. Extremely novice about cars but appreciate any advise. Thanks.

sounds like a bad CAT to me. your car should still be covered under the extended warranty for the CAT. bring it to your local GM dealer and have them check it out.
