Our Alero met the curb

Hi guys

So, first major snowfall in Co Springs. No salt trucks or plows so the roads were pretty slick. We were taking a corner, lost traction, and the left side of the car met the curb rear end first. Now the rear driver side tire is bent, like it is slightly turning left to be specific. Now I know next to nothing about cars. We were wondering what exactly we bent and rough estimate of how much it would be to fix. Any info is helpful...Thanks guys!

Doesnt look to bad.
If your insurance doesnt cover this kind of incident its probley going to cost you around $600-800 , that would mostly be labor.

I cant see that the lower control arms bent, but the rear cross member(or the axle part the hub/wheel bolts too) does looks badly twisted.

Did it bend the rim too ?

I had to repair the same problem on mine. Bought all 4 rear crossmembers for $12 from a local junkyard. Replaced the bent one in about 30 minutes. Then took it to get it re-aligned.

Oh, GM lists the rear crossmembers at $199.56 each, which is why I DID NOT buy them new. That was about 100,000 miles ago.

Welcome to the world of hitting curbs, i actully did same thing this winter (ND go figure), anyway i totaly frieked up my control arm(RF). that and i also smashed my wheel and needed new one of those. if your control arm is bent u will def know it.

you will be unable to steer straight and your car will feel like it is on caster wheels.(imagaine shopping cart).
