Cool 2001 tahoe 4 wheel drive problem

When i am driving and i am in 2hi there is no problem but when i switch to 4hi i get a grinding noise almost like you are driving over road salt and as you turn in some cases the truck will start to slow or stop itself then you push the 2hi and it will drive fine with no noise no hold back.

Re: 2001 tahoe 4 wheel drive problem

Do not use 4W on dry payment.

Better craw under there and have a look around.

Block up all 4 corners and first check all flid levels.
Check drive shafts and axel joints.
Make sure front drive shaft and front axel is locking in good in 4W.
Put it in 4W while some one starts it up puts it ingear and holds the brake a little and see where the noise is coming from.
Report back what you find.

I havn`t checked it yet if you are wondering why i havn`t posted my results because it is a little cold here so i am just waiting for a break in the weather or for all that junk in my garage to magically disappear.
