Check out Wire Wheel in Vero. I think Hayes has about all that's left save for private parties?

You could contact Gary Jones in Augusta, GA too.

yeah Wirewheel is about it. Gary Jones sold all the GTWC's, I think he had one well sorted GTRA left(his own personal car) that he was toying with selling.

I have #3 which is posted on the Wirewheel website that I am selling for "other" reasons. It is fully sorted out and ready to run. Email me at [email protected] if you want to discuss.

Re: Would Like To Purchase A Panoz GTWC

If you are near the west coast your absolute best bet is David from Hooked on Driving http://www.hookedondriving.com/home.cfm He is a great guy I bought mine from him and two of my buddies bought a car from him. He had 6 originally and is down to his last one. Don't quote me on this but I believe the last I heard, his asking was $17K. You can't beat that price. That's why I originally bought mine. After getting to know David there would have been many more reasons than price alone to buy a car from him. Good luck! If you want to talk off line send me a message. [email protected]

Re: Would Like To Purchase A Panoz GTWC

Heres some words of advice, hopefully I am not overstepping my bounds:

I decided to go road course racing in March of 2007. I of course wanted to race a loud V8 car. So the only option I could think of was A/Sedan as GT1 was just too expensive.

I raced my first full schedule in American Sedan in 2008 and won the CFR Championship and set the Sebring Track Record (in the blistering heat). The hardest most UN FUN car you will ever drive is a A/Sedan car. They aren't race cars, they have to be wrestled around and on the high banks of Daytona at 162 peak mph in a 1988 Mustang you really shouldn't be going that fast. That car is gonna roll for a week if it gets sideways when the panhard bar breaks (which happened to me at 158 mph on the gps data acq) coming out of those evil bumps in turn four...fortunately I saved it. Thats when I knew I was in the wrong car for the job.

I graduated from the Panoz school in March of 2007, we spent three days racing around Sebring (I won my school race by a mile over 26 students...so I can drive a little) that Panoz was such a joy to operate, you had faith in it and could push it to the limit and really push your driving skills. It would take a set, it won't wheel hop, it does nothing crazy when you jump out to pass in the braking zone and when you spin out you aren't worried about rolling over and over and into the next county.

When I get the time to go back racing, my plan is to buy one of these Panoz cars and race it forever.

I still have my A/Sedan car...it sets in the shop in perfect shape...but other than a few track days for old times sake I will never race it in anger again. It's not a race car...its a car we raced.

The Panoz, thats a nice purpose built race car thats not crazily priced and can (if these terms can ever apply to racing) be affordably and safely raced.

Patrick, no your weren't overstepping your bounds. Your note is well thought out, and from my experience, accurate. I race a vintage prepped '66 GT-350. It is not a race car and drives like a truck compared to the Panoz. It also costs a fortune to maintain and is an expensive car to buy/replace should something go wrong. You do learn to appreciate what the drivers of the day went through to accomplish what they did in the late '60s, and I do have fun driving it past the vintage Ferrari's Jag's and Vette's.

Re: Would Like To Purchase A Panoz GTWC

I agree with the above statements, the panoz although it lacks the high HP(but I'm working on that) it is an extremely fast, well built reliable car!

It is by far the most fun car I have driven/raced. I have tracked, a Viper, 350z, miata, g35 coupe, fully raced prepped bmw m3, and a hand full of cars in between, and the Panoz is the most fun to drive, and there something to feeling safe in a car you know was built for that purpose.

Can't go wrong in my opinion, and i hope these car get well taken care of and we can drive the price up!!

AGREEEEEEED.....I HOPE PANOZ SELLS MORE GTS's AND SCCA WAKES UP AND LETS THE CAR GET A LITTLE MORE COMPETITIVE IN GT2. There were 3 in the runoffs and they didnt stand a chance. A sealed GTS cannot run with a 996 Cup Car. My car can but it has some more help

I don't see how a 350Z can compete and WIN(wtf) and a Panoz GTS cant???

The Z's havent been competitive since 2003-2004, never saw that coming! lol

Re: Would Like To Purchase A Panoz GTWC

Thank you for the help/advise.

After a few phone conversations and emails with two members of this forum, in conjunction with two long a** road trips, I have two GTWC sitting in my garage. I guess I should change my log-in name now.

Thanks agian, I'm sure I will need additional guidance.

Why buy 1 when you can buy 2...AWESOME! What are the plans for them? Hope to see you out there!
