04 dakota P0204 error

My son's dakota has a miss. It shows a P0204 error code which is a problem with the #4 fuel injector circuit. I can see no problem. The connector is seated good. I did find some of the relays in the box under the hood were loose. I pushed all of them back down. Engine miss quit. Cleared the error code. Truck ran a few miles, miss started again. Again with the check engine light. Error code P0204 shows again. Don't know where to go next.

Re: 04 dakota P0204 error

try switching the fuel injector with the cylinder next door and see if the code follows the injector! mike

I'll give that a shot as soon as I can.

Re: 04 dakota P0204 error

I found the problem over the weekend. First, before trying the fuel injector swap I did a resistance check between a known good injector and the one that shows a problem. Both show 11.9 ohms each. Not the injector. Traced wires back to computer. Along the way found that the wiring harness had fallen onto the exhaust manifold melting some of the wiring insulation. Made repairs to wiring. Everything is OK now.
